PHOTO/VIDEO ASSIGNMENT

The goal of this project is to design, create, edit, and produce your own environmental visual presentation. The purpose is to investigate and explain/reveal an environmental problem in your community. It must be a stand alone presentation; that is, it must speak for itself (no commentary from you). The requirements beyond that are largely open to your interpretation. The grade will be determined based on: creativity, the message (coherency and power), and preparation (how much effort placed into project) and thoroughness (completeness). The length is up to you, but I would think that the absolute minimum would be 30sec and the maximum somewhere around 5min. If it's longer, that's fine, but it must be edited.

To guide you, I would think that you need a beginning, middle and end. The beginning should outline the problem. The middle puts the problem in some context and explains the problem, and the end provides some finality to the problem (it doesn't have to be a "solution") but there needs to be some underlying message, which doesn't have to be positive.

There are few restrictions on the topic, content, or message. You are free to do a photo based project instead of a video (there is no penalty). You are also free to put it in Powerpoint for the sake of simplicity/ease, but it's not to be presented with commentary.

Also, you can take photos/video clips from the Internet to supplement your project. So, the entire project doesn't have to be composed of your own video/photo, however, the major components should be your own work. Also, be cautious of copyright protection, if you adopt some photo/video clips and plan on uploading your final project to the internet (e.g. youtube).
